| Hurricane,
Utah (pronounced
Hur-I-kun by the locals) is located in the
southwestern portion of Utah, about 20 miles north
and east of St George. It is somewhat colder than St. George, so
palm trees and other sub-tropical plants won’t grow
here.
“Hurricane
derived its name from Erastus Snow who was returning to St. George
from visiting the Virgin
River
Communities. As his company made its way into the valley, an abrupt
whirlwind whisked off his buggy top, and Erastus remarked that it
was just like a hurricane! They agreed the name fit and the
Hurricane Hill, Bench and Valley were
named.”

City
Information page Here.)
Hurricane is a small,
but growing town. Hurricane has been blessed with the over-flow of
home buyers that St. George couldn’t handle (during the last hot
real estate market).
Hurricane has many shops
and stores, most of which are located along Highway 9, which runs
though the middle of the town.
